SAGO Completes Procedures for 3rd Wheat Tender in 2020

Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) has completed procedures for importing 655,000 tons of wheat , representing the third tender for 2020, from the European Union, the Black Sea, Australia , North and South America; except Canada.
Governor of SAGO Eng. Ahmad Abdulaziz Al-Fares stated today that this tender comes as an extension to the efforts of meeting the local demand and maintaining the strategic reserve of wheat. He added that the specified amount in the tender is distributed to 11 ships; 6 ships with the amount of 360,000 tons for Jeddah Islamic Port, 4 ships with the amount of 240,000 tons for King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam and one ship with the amount of 55,000 tons for Jizan Port; which will arrive during the period of July – August 2020.
The organization has contracted to import 755,000 tons since the beginning of this year, and with this tender the total quantity of imported wheat for this year will reach an estimated amount of 31.4 million tons. In implementation of the issued resolutions, the organization has also begun the reception of local wheat which aims to purchase 700,000 tons of local wheat.
