Dubai hosts the Excellence in Cardiac Care Congress next October, with the participation of regional experts and more than 20 world-class experts. The leading event in the region sponsored by Gruppo Ospedaliero San Donato (Milan) and supported by Indian Association of Clinical Cardiologists.

"We believe Excellence in Cardiac Care Congress 2016 will be a truly distinctive event for the cardiac community in the region, The topic of the event will be interdisciplinary approaches in cardiac care, and the objective will be to show how different cardiac specialists can work together and even use each other's techniques to improve patient outcomes and tackle structural cardiac conditions.” said Dr. Francesco Magro, Head of International Development – Middle East for Gruppo San Donato.

The Congress taking place 7-8 October will feature scientific presentations, workshops and interactive discussion sessions offered by a number of expert speakers in this area, including: Prof. Dr. Abdullah Shehab Head of Cardiology Department at Al Ain Hospital, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Balushi Head of Cardiovascular Surgery in Zayed Military Hospital, Dr. Arif Al Mulla Head of Heart Failure Unit SKMC, Dr. Obaid Al Jassem Head of Division Cardiothoracic Surgery at Dubai Hospital, Dubai, Prof. Alessandro Frigiola head of Head of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Policlinico San Donato, Milan, Prof. Andrea Kahlberg, Assistant Professor of Vascular Surgery Vita-Salute University School of Medicine, Milan, Italy, Prof. Antonio Colombo Head of Interventional Cardiology Ospedale San Raffaele, Milan, Prof. Mattia Glauber Head of Cardiac Surgery Istituto Clinico Sant’Ambrogio, Milan, Prof. Roberto Chiesa Head of Vascular Surgery Ospedale San Raffaele, Milan.

Key topics of the congress include modern techniques in heart surgery, interventional cardiology and cardiac arrythmology, as well as pulmonary hypertension cardiac rehabilitation after cardiac surgery, modern management of diseases of the thoracic aorta, the renewal of the heart from stem cells to guide the re-programming, and more.

“The second day of the congress will be structured in workshops that the delegates can attend to learn to perform practically different techniques. We will have experts showing how they perform the techniques, while the participants perform them. Animal heart "wet lab" and advanced percutaneous interventional procedure simulators will both be featured in the cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology workshops respectively. The event will also feature an advanced class on atrial fibrillation ablation, in which an electrophysiologist in the conference room in Dubai will perform a procedure live on a patient in Europe, by robotically guiding the probe over an internet connection. We believe this will be a first for Dubai.” added Dr. Francesco Magro
