There is no plan to tax the income of citizens under the government’s Vision 2030 economic revamp measures, according to Minister of State Mohamed Abdul Malik Al-Asheikh, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.
Al-Asheikh made the remarks on Monday in response to questions from journalists at the launch of the National Transformation Program (NTP) 2020, which forms part of Vision 2030.
“The Kingdom’s Vision 2030 does not have a tax on the income of citizens. This was announced during the launch of the Vision, and it was clear and explicit.”
Others present at the briefing included Minister of Civil Service Khalid Al-Araj, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdul Rahman Al-Fadli, Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources Khalid Al-Falih and Minister of Haj and Umrah Mohammed Salih Bentin.
On the Ministry of Civil Service initiatives, Al-Araj said that every initiative will be studied thoroughly within the framework of the NTP, and be completely transparent to the public through all forms of media platforms.
He said one of the goals is to improve government work culture, raise the proportion of women in civil service jobs from 39.8 percent to 42 percent, and increase the proportion of women in senior positions at rank 11 and above from 1 percent to 5 percent. The program for the development of human resources will significantly help facilitate this, he said.
