Volkswagen recalls Touareg, model years 2011 to 2016, for service

Volkswagen is recalling 391,000 vehicles worldwide of the Touareg, model years 2011 to 2016, for preventive inspection at service shops. Just around 1522 of these vehicles are in Saudi Arabia.  The reason is possible loosening of a retaining ring on the bearing block of the pedal system. The ring will be checked for proper installation at the service shop.

Only a very small percentage of the affected vehicles were delivered with the fault, which was found in internal studies and has already been corrected in ongoing production.

Customers can continue to use their vehicles fully until the inspection. However, if unusually large lateral play is noticed in the brake pedal, the vehicle should not be driven any longer. This condition could lead to breakage of the brake pedal bearing, especially in case of hard braking, and then there would be a risk of an accident.

Volkswagen is giving priority to solving this issue and customers in Saudi Arabia are advised to contact their nearest Volkswagen maintenance centre to arrange a visit.  The service visit, which is free-of-charge, will be scheduled instantly.
