Saudi Arabia has signed a memorandum of understanding with Bahrain to strengthen civil aviation links and cooperation between the two countries.

The MOU, signed by Bahrain’s Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Kamal Bin Ahmed Mohammed and President of Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) Sulaiman Al-Hamdan during the Bahrain International Airshow 2016, will allow the national carriers of the Gulf neighbors to operate 107 flights weekly in both directions.

The agreement will allow Gulf Air to operate flights on domestic routes in the Kingdom, including Jeddah and Riyadh.

The agreement will have a positive impact on meeting air transport requirements of both citizens and residents, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

According to the agreement, Gulf Air will operate 28 flights to Jeddah per week with four flights daily and 35 flights to Riyadh with five flights daily. It will also operate 37 flights per week to Dammam and seven flights per week to Madinah. The agreement also gives Gulf Air the right to operate additional flights when required.
