G-20: King Salman, Erdogan focus on summit’s agenda

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed a number of issues on the summit's agenda as well as bilateral relations and issues of common interest on Saturday.
The president held a luncheon banquet in honor of King Salman in Antalya.

The three main themes of this year's G-20 Summit have been chosen as "inclusiveness, investment and implementation.”
Leading economists expect Saudi Arabia to continue to be an essential member of G-20 given its size, role and weight not only in global energy markets but its wider stabilizing role in the Middle East and Islamic world.

Saudi Arabia’s huge contributions to regional and international development institutions have been widely recognized.
“The prosperity of Saudi Arabia positively trickle to the rest of the wider region either via trade mechanisms, investments or remittances and aid,” commented John Sfakianakis, Middle East director at Ashmore Group.
The G-20 Leaders' Summit, hosted by President Erdogan, will be held in Antalya on Sunday and Monday (today and tomorrow).
Ihsan Bu-Hulaiga, head of the Joatha Consulting, said that Saudi Arabia will continue to play a pivotal role in G-20 in years to come.
“Saudi Arabia is diversifying its economy. In the first half of 2015, oil revenues went down by 50 percent but the Kingdom’s economy grew by 3.8 percent which is better than average of G-20 growth,” Bu-Hulaiga told Arab News.

Saudi Arabia’s participation in G-20 summit in Turkey is very important, he pointed out. The Kingdom submitted to G-20 its plan to enhance economic growth. It had a number of meetings with other countries to invigorate growth within member states.
Analysts, however, said Friday’s terror attacks in Paris are set to cast a shadow over the summit.
"We are now at a point where words end in the fight against terrorism. We are now at a stage where this should be put at the forefront," Erdogan told reporters ahead of the summit.
