The Human Rights Commission was established under the "Organization of the Human Rights Commission" issued by the Council of Ministers Resolution No. (207) of 8/8/1426 H. The Commission aims to protect and promote human rights in accordance with international human rights standards in all fields, to raise awareness of them and to contribute to ensuring that this is applied in light of the provisions of the Islamic Shariah. The Commission is the body responsible for providing opinions and advice on human rights issues.

The Commission enjoys legal personality and has full independence in the exercise of its functions for which it was established and regulated.
