Saudi Arabia, in the midst of a massive reform programme to cut its dependence on oil revenues, said it plans to transfer ownership of its airports to its sovereign wealth fund with the view to privatise them. Each airport will be transferred to a separate company ahead of being sold off and Saudi Arabia has already delegated more work for its airports to the private sector in recent years.
The current expansion of the King Abdulaziz International Airport in the port city of Jeddah will be undertaken by Changi Airport of Singapore and will start operations in the second half of 2018 which will be operated by Changi for 20 years. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is looking at privatizing all of its airports by 2020 with four Airport PPP projects that have already been announced at Yanbu, Taif, Qassim and Hail.
Hence, we at TraiCon will be hosting the Airport PPP Summit which will take place on 6 & 7 December in Riyadh, KSA. This two day summit is an educative platform comprising of both local and international case study presentations, highly interactive panel discussions and networking sessions.
