TIGER ROARS, ABU DHABI SCORES!

The Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, which started today and runs until Sunday 29 January, reveled in the ‘Tiger effect’ this morning, as the crowd-pulling American enjoyed a bogey-free debut on his first National Course appearance.

After carding a 2-under par round of 70, a beaming Woods stopped by the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) chalet where he met its Chairman, His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, and Director General, His Excellency Mubarak Al Muhairi.

Sheikh Sultan, who was given an impromptu putting lesson by the 14-time Major winner, wished Woods the best of luck in this week’s US$2.7million tournament and for the rest of the season. Sheikh Sultan also congratulated Woods on his dancing prowess in a pre-Championship publicity stunt which saw the former world number one join a traditional Emirati celebration dance.
