Xylem’s intelligent pump control solution recognised at International Water Summit

Xylem Inc., (NYSE: XYL), a leading global water technology company dedicated to solving the world’s most challenging water issues, has been announced as a finalist in the Innovate@IWS competition at the International Water Summit, Abu Dhabi. Xylem is one of four finalists in the municipal water category of the Innovate@IWS competition for its Flygt SmartRun® intelligent pump controller.

Innovate@IWS is a new initiative designed to find and accelerate next-generation technologies that address water sustainability challenges in arid regions. The winning technologies must demonstrate excellence in terms of uniqueness, business potential and long-term vision.

Xylem’s Flygt SmartRun® intelligent pump controller can reduce a pump station’s energy usage by up to 30 percent when compared to a conventional on/off control. When working in tandem with Xylem’s Flygt Experior wastewater pumping solution, SmartRun® can reduce energy consumption by up to 50 percent. It intuitively finds the most energy-efficient pump speed for a specific application. It also features an automatic blockage removal function. Furthermore, all functions of SmartRun® are pre-programmed to eliminate costly engineering work for each pump station start-up – a significant differentiator from other products on the market.

Tomas Brannemo, Senior Vice President and President Transport for Xylem, said: “We are honoured that Flygt SmartRun’s innovative and unique capabilities have been recognized at IWS. Xylem is committed to developing smart and sustainable solutions that solve every day, global water challenges.”

Innovate@IWS connects innovators and clean technologists with investors, partners and end users in the quest to deliver sustainable water solutions. As part of the competition developers pitch their innovations to an expert panel of judges including investors, regulators, utility managers, industrial water users and technical experts from around the world.
