Virgin Mobile Saudi Arabia wins “Digital MVNO of the Year” at MVNO World Congress 2022

Virgin Mobile Saudi Arabia, has been awarded the Digital MVNO of the year prize during the global MVNO World Congress 2022. 


Virgin Mobile KSA was presented with the award during the annual MVNO World Congress awards ceremony, this year held at the Arminius Markthalle in Berlin, Germany on June 9. The awards highlight the achievements and innovations within the MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operators) industry over the last 12 months.


Virgin Mobile KSA was recognized for its operational achievements, innovation, and excellence within the industry. Award panel judges praised the company for its wide range of customer options and described it as an “excellent entry” that provided easy onboarding with a commitment to delivering digital experiences to the consumer and more. 


Not only was Virgin Mobile KSA the sole winner from the Kingdom but it is also the only telco from the Arab world to be presented with an award. This landmark victory is a recognition of the Kingdom’s fast growing telco sector and the increased innovation among companies, as they seek to attract customers in an ever more competitive market.

The Virgin Mobile App is at the core of everything Virgin Mobile KSA does. With this App customers have flexibility, choice, and control over the way they interact with Virgin Mobile KSA. Customers can activate their accounts as well as build customized plans that best suit their needs all from the ease and convenience of their smartphone. Everything can be done via the App and since its launch in 2018 around 90 percent of customers using Virgin Mobile KSA’s digital plans use it to manage their service.


The MVNO market has huge potential for further growth. According to a report from Grand View Research, a market research company, the global MVNO market is expected to reach USD$ 109.9 billion by 2027.


Members of the judging panel said Virgin Mobile KSA’s digital offering was “easy to onboard new customer and also put them in control to tailor the package to their needs including added value services.”


In addition, Virgin Mobile KSA’s option to customize plans “seemed to be a hit” with customers, they commented.


“I like the diversity of the customer proposition, the digital channels but also the opportunity for rapidly delivered physical SIMs,” said a judging panel member.


“Excellent entry. Virgin Mobile Saudi Arabia have clearly thought about the touch points needed for the digital journey of their customer and have developed a comprehensive and easy to navigate solution,” said another member, while the panel as a whole praised the company for “its commitment to bring digital experiences to customers.”


The Digital MVNO of the Year award win for Virgin Mobile KSA is yet another success backed by the constant support of the Communication and Information Technology Commission (CITC), which has recently moved from a telecom to a digital regulator, to further accelerate the digital transformation happening in the Kingdom under Vision 2030.
