Twitter and Car Enthusiasts in Saudi Arabia

Saudis have always been car enthusiasts, and it is no surprise that many car devotees use Twitter to keep up with the latest  car models and vehicle updates in Saudi Arabia. Not only do they share news of new models, but they also share pictures and updates of their own vehicles to their friends and followers from across the globe. Car enthusiasts have been even gaining recognition on Twitter for their expertise and passion for cars.

 

Ahmed Al- Sheri (@Mechanic1553) has been active on Twitter since 2013, and he currently has over 120K followers. As a well-known car aficionado, who used to be the former captain of Hummer Saudi’s racecar group, Ahmed is also a TV presenter for his own show called ‘Car Expert’. As an active Twitter user, Ahmed Tweets on a daily basis, sharing countless images and videos of the latest car models from shows going on around the world. In addition, Ahmed shares the prices of the cars, new features, as well as his review and opinion of the vehicle presented. Through Twitter, Ahmed is also able to answer questions regarding cars in a timely manner.

 

Car companies in Saudi Arabia have also joined the trend and are active on Twitter to reach a large pool of their target audience. Companies such as @AlJazirahFord inform consumers of the latest car models that are available for both test drive and purchase. @AlJazirahFord joined Twitter in 2011, and has since dedicated its page to promotions and car announcements  and they are currently heavily promoting their new Ford Mustang and Ford Explorer to their followers. As the weather gets cooler for desert excursions  @AlJazirahFord has been Tweeting about the the great features that accompany Ford vehicles, making them the ideal cars for driving in the desert. Consumers have also been Tweeting about their experiences trying out the new #تحدي_الإيكوبوست F-150 pickup truck that is popular here in Saudi.

 

Twitter has also become the go-to place where Saudis come to sell their cars.   Companies such as @car_saudi  use the power of Retweeting to advertise cars to their followers. To be featured on their page, a seller would need to tag @car_saudi in a description or image of their car while also using appropriate Hashtags such as #للبيع #سيارة_للبيع #سيارات and in a matter of minutes it can be Retweeted to reach all the followers of @car_saudi. Sharing Tweets opens up the opportunity to reach more customers with the simple click of a Tweet button.

 

In addition to connecting consumers with car companies, Twitter can connect passionate car drivers with each other from across the globe as well. If you’re interested in classic cars, you could follow accounts that are dedicated to  classic cars in Saudi Arabia. Twitter handles such as @Classic_CA share pictures of classic cars that still exist in Saudi, and they also use Twitter to arrange gatherings for vintage cars, helping connect classic car enthusiasts with each other.

 

Twitter has helped usher a new era in Saudi Arabia, where owning a nice car is a sign of status. People share their passion for new and old cars with the click of a button. With the advancement of technology, and the emergence of social media platform like Twitter, selling, buying, and discussing cars has become easier than ever.
