TV Chef Ghada Al Talli Cooks Live at the Sharjah International Book Fair

Egyptian-Jordanian TV Chef Ghada Al Talli delighted her fans during the Sharjah International Book Fair as they gathered to watch her live demonstration at the fair’s cookery corner.

Al Talli who specializes in cake frostings that use fondant frosting also enjoys cooking savory dishes. She cooked a Turkish dish named “Bahjatul Sultan” (which translates into: The Sultan’s Delight) made of diced and cooked meat on a creamy cheese and eggplant base.

While the pots were simmering with the delectable ingredients Al Talli, who has a TV show, started to ask the audience about various dishes and engaged with them, asking them their opinion on her programs.

“My grandmother was my greatest cooking inspiration. I used to observe her while she cooked and I learnt so much from her,” said Al Talli, adding that the first recipe she had attempted as a child was profiteroles. “I remember seeing it in a magazine supplement and I decided to do it.”

Al Talli said that she’s always brainstorming in her mind new recipes and sometimes as she dines she would look at dishes and what could be mixed and matched to create something innovative. However when it comes to some traditional Jordanian food, like Mansaf – which in itself is an institution, Al Talli said that she dares not play around with it.

The SIBF’s cookery corner will continue its program with renowned chefs from all over the world. The complete program is available on the website: www.sharjahbookfair.com
