Tourism In Hyderabad: The City That Can Mesmerise You

Hyderabad, the capital and also the largest city of the state of Telangana. The whole city is spread around 250 square miles on the Deccan Plateau along the banks of river Musi in the northern part. The whole of Hyderabad is on hilly terrain and surrounded by artificial lakes, which includes Hussain Sagar Lake.

 

In 2011, according to the Census of India, Hyderabad is fourth on the list of most populated cities in India with a population of over 6.5 million within the city and 9.7 million residents in the metropolitan area, which also makes Hyderabad, the sixth most populated metropolitan city in India as well. 

 

Hyderabad has a very long and rich history, Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah first established Hyderabad in the year 1591 so that he can expand his capital beyond Golconda. In the year 1687, the Mughals annexed the city. In 1724, the Mughal Viceroy Nizam Asaf Jah 1 declared his rule and founded the Asaf Jahi Dynasty which was also known as Nizams. From the years 1769 to 1948, Hyderabad was under Asaf Jahi’s rule. 

 

Before Independence, Hyderabad was the home of British Residency and cantonment till 1947. It was annexed by the Indian Union in 1948 and still continued as the capital of Hyderabad state till 1956. After the State Recognition Act in 1956, the city was declared as the capital of the newly formed Andhra Pradesh.  

 

Till the 19th century, the city was quite famous for its Pearl industry and it was also named “City Of Pearls”. It was also the one and only trade centre in the world for Golconda diamonds. 

 

Hyderabad is quite a famous place for tourism. Lots of people from all over the world come here to visit either for vacation or even for work purposes also. You can travel to Hyderabad by all forms of transportation as it is a well-connected city. 1. Charminar: Awe-Inspiring Architecture

 

It is an iconic landmark of Hyderabad and it is the most beautifully structured historical place of India. It is a must-visit place in Hyderabad for all kinds of travellers. Charminar was built in the 1500s. Originally it was built as a mosque, the Charminar is still standing like the epitome of architecture and art as the centre of the city. It is also quite a good place for food lovers as you can find good authentic Hyderabadi food near Charminar.

2. Golkonda Fort: Archaeological Gem

 

A gem in the centre of the Hyderabad, Archaeological Survey of India considered this fort as an archaeological gem and that is why it is also a must-visit place in Hyderabad.  Once it was the capital of the Qutb Shahi Dynasty, now it is one of the best picnic spots in Hyderabad.

3. Ramoji Film City: A Paradise For Movie Lovers

 

You always heard that big surprises come in small packages right? Ramoji Film City is a live example of that. It is not only a famous tourist place but also a Guinness World Record holder of having 50 well-equipped film sets in a single location. The prices of the tickets for entering are INR 1150 for adult visitors and INR 950 for kids.

4. Hussain Sagar Lake: Splendid Views

 

This is considered to be one of the largest man-made lakes in the city and it is a perfect romantic place for couples. Apart from the mesmerising view, you will also find a Buddha statue just in the middle of the lake. Here you can also enjoy boating and other activities as well. 

 

Location: 2 Km away from the centre of Hyderabad, Telangana

5. Nehru Zoo Park: Numerous Species Available

 

In this zoo, you can find over 1500 types of different species of animals. It is a must-visit place in Hyderabad and it spreads over 380 acres of land. It is also the largest zoo in India.

6. Lumbini Park: A Refreshing Place

 

Named after Lumbini of Nepal and dedicated to Lord Buddha, the Lumbini Park is the most refreshing place in the city. After a tiring day if you are coming in the evening you can enjoy light and sound shows also.

7.  Tank Bund: A Refreshing Place In Evening

 

The Tank Bund connects Hyderabad to Secunderpur and also it is quite a good place to chill. From this place, you can also enjoy the beautiful view of Hussain Sagar Lake. Here you will also find 33 other bronze statues of eminent persons as well like Tikkana, Erra Pragada and many more.

8. Chowmahalla Palace: Attractive and Majestic

 

It was the royal residence of the Nizam’s and also it was the royal seat of the Asaf Jahi Dynasty. It is the most famous palace in India. Travellers love this place for its gorgeous structure and rich history.

Timing: Saturday to Thursday, 10.00 AM - 5.00 PM

 

9. Salar Jung Museum: It is one of the largest and also the third National Museum of India and it is a must-visit place. Here you can find old-age art like paintings, sculptures, manuscripts, artefacts and a lot more from all over the world.

Timing: Saturday to Thursday, 10.00 AM - 5.00 PM
