To Raise Awareness Against Financial Fraud, Media and Awareness Committee Launches “Don’t play their games” Campaign


Considering the new developed methods of financial frauds cases, where criminals working hard to get access to banking information that would cause great losses for many targeted banks customers, Media and Awareness Committee of Saudi Banks launched an awareness campaign to raise awareness against financial fraud titled “# Don’t_play_their_game”.


The campaign aims to raise the awareness regarding different methods of financial fraud that could be used.  Such cases could occur as impersonation of government or financial company employee calling customers obtaining personal or financial information. Receiving fake links through SMS and Email to be filled with personal and cards information. Also, it could be in form of fake financial expert or advisory offers guaranteed profits on investment opportunity such as gold or stocks. Creating fake accounts in different social media platforms under well-known names offering financial advice and assistance as a way of gaining the customers trust. It’s also could appear to the targeted customer in form of fake offers to pay off debts and bills by agencies claiming to be legal and licensed.


Moreover, frauds cases could appear as fake marketing companies approaching the customer claiming that he wins a cash prizes asking him to provide them with his account number and personal information. Also, customers could receive fake links from impersonating shipping companies requesting for payment in order to deliver the shipment.


Therefore, in order to raise financial awareness, encourage individuals and institutions to be caution of such cases, Media and Awareness Committee of Saudi Banks working on publishing educational content across its various platforms to educate community about fraudulent methods to avoid falling into those scams and facing consequences.
