Tadweer’s PestWorld East 2019 Conference to Kick off Tomorrow in Abu Dhabi

PestWorld East 2019, a specialized conference that seeks to address pest management challenges specific to the, will kick off tomorrow (x April) at the St. Regis Abu Dhabi. 

Organized by Abu Dhabi Waste Management Center (Tadweer) in collaboration with the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) and Ecovar Group, a leading provider of sustainable pest control solutions, the two-day conference will be headlined by key speakers including His Excellency Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, the UAE’s Minister of Climate Change and Environment.

Set to convene for the first time in the UAE capital, the event will attract leading pest control experts from the UAE and abroad. As part of its agenda, it will facilitate the exchange of knowledge on a range of topics related to sustainable pest control, as well as networking with specialists from leading global universities and research centers with the aim of improving the efficiency of pest control operations. 

Following an opening address by His Excellency Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Dominique Stumpf, CAE, CEO, National Pest Management Association, Virginia, USA and
Hani Shehadeh, CEO, Ecovar, Dubai, will also address the attendees. The opening session on day one on How Technology, Innovation and Big Data are Transforming Food Safety, will be followed by a session on Developing an Effective Pest Control Program for Third Party Audited Food Processing Accounts.

Also on the agenda for day one are sessions titled Practical Fly Management and Equipment Innovation, Comprehensive Rodent Control Programs in Urban Environments, an Innovation Showcase from Syngenta Farm Pest Control, and Building a Better Pest Control Program – Pest Management at Construction Sites.

Day two will commence with a session on Recognizing the Importance of Pest Management in Protecting Public Health. Similar modules on Termite Treatments – Equipment, Procedures and Effective Practices and Bed Bug Treatment Methods and Monitoring Techniques, will follow. A final wrap up session with a call to action will conclude proceedings.

Tadweer will leverage the platform to highlight its advanced pest control services. At an exhibition held on the sidelines of the conference, Tadweer will display its latest innovations and equipment used for the detection and control of breeding sites.

Dr Salem Al Kaabi, Acting General Manager of Tadweer, said: “Tadweer is organizing this international conference as part of its efforts to promote and share best practices in the pest control domain, and ensure effective measures to prevent pest proliferation through close collaboration with the public and private sectors. In addition to promoting environment-friendly pest prevention methods, the event will enable those working in this domain to improve their skills and build capacities to control the proliferation of various types of public health pests.

For his part, Eng Mohammed Al Marzouqi, Pest Control Projects Director at Tadweer, said: “PestWorld East 2019 articulates Tadweer’s priority to improve the quality of life across all urban and rural areas in Abu Dhabi. It also complements the emirate’s efforts to create a safe and disease-free environment through implementing global best practices in integrated pest management. "

Al Marzouqi added: “The conference supports Tadweer’s mandate to address various challenges facing the pest-control sector through applying the knowledge and expertise of participants to achieve long-term prevention results.

Tadweer is the key government entity responsible for all activities related to the development of waste management services in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, including the collection, transportation, treatment and disposal of waste in a safe, efficient and economical manner. The center is also tasked with carrying out pest control, educating communities about the significance of protecting the environment, and encouraging them to adopt sound environmental habits to drive sustainable development.
