Strong 2019 sales prepares Porsche Saudi Arabia for an electric 2020

Porsche Saudi Arabia, SAMACO Automotive, the exclusive importer of Porsche cars in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, concluded a successful 2019 by recording a 34 per cent increase in new car deliveries for the year. Interest across the entire range was strong, with 737 cars delivered last year compared to 551 in 2018. The arrival of the all-new Cayenne Coupé in the third quarter helped the SUV range achieve 410 deliveries, an annual increase of 25 per cent. The new Macan was the biggest growth driver with 218 units sold, while demand for the iconic 911, which debuted an eighth-generation range mid-way through the year, exceeded the 2018 performance. Overall, orders for new Porsches in the Kingdom have continued to rise for the last three years, setting a solid base for the first full year of the new 911 as well as the introduction of the brand’s first fully electric model, the Taycan.

Mohammed Raffa, Chief Executive Officer of SAMACO Automotive, said: “Our customers have reinforced Porsche’s position amongst the top luxury sports cars of choice in this country. This result is a tribute to not only the hard work of our employees but to the trust our customers have continued to place in us over many years. Arrivals of the Macan, Cayenne Coupé and the new 911 lay the foundation for an exciting new era of performance motoring with our first fully electric sports car, the Taycan, also due in showrooms later this year.”

Looking ahead, Raffa continued: “This year will see further enhancements to our business operations. We will have even more attractively specified cars in our inventory to address our customer needs for reduced delivery times. In addition, we will be offering extended service and warranty packages giving customers maximum peace of mind. We are also increasing our staff complement and investing substantially in new facilities as well as the training of our employees to provide our customers an unparalleled purchasing experience.”

Set to be launched during the course of the year, the Porsche Taycan will offer up to 761 hp in the Turbo S derivative, with an acceleration time from 0 to 100km/h in only 2.8 seconds. Its sibling, the Taycan 4S, will deliver a range of up to 463 km from a single charge (according to WLTP). Culminating 70 years of experience building sports cars, it is the first EV in the world that features a two-speed transmission and the lowest drag coefficient and centre of gravity in the entire Porsche model line-up.
