Saudi Ministry of Interior Concludes its Fourth Participation in GITEX Technology Week 2018

The Saudi Ministry of Interior today concluded its successful participation in GITEX Technology Week 2018, the Middle East's premier technology event, held in Dubai from 14-18 October 2018. This year's pavilion received more than 20,000 visitors from different nationalities as well as delegations, VIPs, and government officials from the Kingdom and the UAE.

This year, the pavilion featured 10 sectors from within the Ministry of Interior, which presented a range of electronic services, smart platforms and advanced technologies that embody the Ministry's efforts to support the realization of Saudi Vision 2030, while promoting best practice standards within the Ministry of Interior’s operations.

"The Ministry of Interior’s fourth consecutive year at GITEX Technology Week 2018 is a testament to the success of the event as a platform for demonstrating out progressive approach to technology adoption," said Ahmed Bin Jameel Al-Mayman, Chairman of the Supervisory Committee. “Every year, our GITEX pavilion demonstrates the dedication and commitment of the Ministry of Interior and participating sectors to the implementation of numerous smart applications and solutions, which pave the way towards digital transformation."

"The Saudi Ministry of Interior is one of the leading ministries in the region in the field of adopting and implementing digital transformation strategies," said Al-Mayman. "This is evidenced by the launch of new electronic services and smart solutions, which have impacted positively on various aspects of life in the Kingdom.”

During the exhibition, the pavilion hosted many visitors, who were introduced to the smart technical applications available at the Ministry of the Interior such as the Smart Path for Travelers, the Center for Excellence for Dynamic Identity Systems by the National Information Center, the Smart Applications Corner, the technical systems for Hajj and Umrah, “Asher” and the “Amen” Security System.

The event was attended by several government officials from the Kingdom and the UAE. HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, visited the pavilion at the opening of the event. The pavilion was also visited by His Royal Highness Prince Bandar bin Abdullah Al-Mishari Al Saud, Assistant Minister of Interior for Technical Affairs; HE Dr. Khalid Al-Bayari, Saudi Deputy Defense Minister for Executive Affairs, and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in the United Arab Emirates, Saud Bin Fahd Al-Suwailem. The VIP guests saw demonstrations of the electronic services provided by the Ministry and its various sectors, and the pivotal role of electronic services used to promote economic and social development in the Kingdom.

The pavilion was also visited by His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the UAE, who toured the various sectors participating in the pavilion. Other VIP guests include delegations from the General Command of Dubai Police led by Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Dubai, and a delegation from the UAE Interior Ministry, including Saif Abdullah Al Shafar, Undersecretary of the Ministry.

On day 5 of the event, the Committee held an awarding ceremony attended by representatives from the participating sectors.

This year’s pavilion was inspired by the vision of Saudi Arabia 2030, and the progression of the Kingdom towards becoming an integrated digital community and providing an environment suitable for the business and services of citizens, residents and visitors alike.
