Saudi Arabia hosting Spanish folklore special with Riyadh ‘Flamenco Nights’

Southern Spain’s folkloric music and dance culture is making its way to Saudi Arabia with “Noches de Flamenco” performances in Riyadh.

The first-of-its-kind event in the Kingdom, announced by the Theater and Performing Arts Commission on Sunday, will be held at the Cultural Palace in the Diplomatic Quarter from Feb. 16-20.

Performances will include Spanish music special to Andalusia, mixed with contemporary dancing.

The Spanish Flamenco ensemble consists of 10 dancers and six musicians led by internationally renowned artist Jose Manuel Alvarez, who will perform from 8:30 p.m. to 9:35 p.m.

The event comes as part of efforts by the Theater and Performing Arts Commission to enrich the sector with diverse experiences that contribute to the development of the artistic scene in the Kingdom. It also aims to encourage creative dialogue between Saudi cultural audiences and international performers.
