Riyadh Season set to take audience on a magic carpet ride with Aladdin’s play by Cairo Show

The Egyptian theater rendition of Aladdin by Cairo Show will have its first appearance in Riyadh as part of the Riyadh Season festivities. The star-studded play will be performed from December 25th until December 28th, 2019, at the Blue Hall Theatre in Princess Nourah Bint Abdul Rahman University located in the Riyadh Front zone. 

 

The play, which stars Ahmed Ezz in the leading role of Aladdin, Tara Emad as Jasmine, Mohammed Tharwat as the Genie, Hesham Ismail as Jaafar, Samy Maghawry as the Sultan, Islam Ibrahim as Offah, and Mohamed Gomaa as the Pharaoh, was announced during a press conference held on Sunday, December 22nd. 

 

A comedic musical performance and Cairo Show’s biggest production to date, Aladdin will feature the latest technology in special effects, bringing the Arabic theater to a new level of offering. Produced on par with the highest international standards and featuring the latest technologies in theatrics, musical performances, and special effects, Aladdin is set to wow its audience with a spectacular performance taking them on a modernized magic carpet ride. 

 

The play represents a new manner in which the region’s theater is witnessing a revival and enhancement, attracting an array of audience – a key role Riyadh Season has played in creating memorable experiences and developing a thriving and sustainable entertainment ecosystem that has enabled Saudi Arabia to emerge as a global entertainment hub. 

 

“We are excited to see this new theatrical experience debuting for the first time in Riyadh and before its performance on any other stage. Our goal throughout the season was to bring new experiences to our audiences, and the presentation of Aladdin on the Riyadh Season stage will sure to be a new and exciting experience for our audience,” stated Eng. Faisal Bafarat, CEO of the General Entertainment Authority. 

 

“The hospitality, traditions, talents and opportunities in the Kingdom are second to none, and we are excited to showcase that to the world and to our audience that has exceeded 10.3 million visitors,” he continued. 

 

Director and Producer Magdy AlHawary, Founder and CEO of Cairo Show, the producers of Aladdin, said: “The revival of the Arabic theater and presenting its performances and theatrical experiences in a new light is what we are all about. This is our third play during Riyadh Season. We hope Saudi Arabia will continue to play host to our productions.” 

 

AlHawary added: “The Riyadh Season audience has been enthralled with our previous productions, and we wanted them to be the first to witness our latest theatrical presentation and show designs with this state-of-the-art comedic musical performance.” 

 

AlHawary also sent a message of gratitude to the Arab public in general and the Saudi in particular, connoisseurs of Egyptian art. He also thanked the Egyptian audience who expressed love and pride to the Aladdin theater team.

 

AlHawary added: “My colleagues and I have worked hard to present this art piece to our dear audience. I would like to thank you all for your continued support. My thanks also go to all the play’s cast, my colleagues at Cairo Show, and our behind-the-scenes heroes who worked very diligently and professionally for this day.” 

 

Prior to his arrival to Riyadh, the star of the ensemble cast, Ahmed Ezz, replied to H.E. Turki Abdulmohsen Al-AlSheikh’s tweet, expressing his happiness to be performing for the first time in a theatre show. Ezz also stated that he is looking forward to performing in front of the Saudi audience who appreciates and values arts and culture. He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to H.E. Turki Al-AlSheikh for his constant support for arts initiatives and for driving the success of this work. 

 

Ahmed Ezz also expressed Aladdin’s team happiness for being part of the Riyadh Season activities and revealed his agreement with the Cairo Show theater to produce a world-class performance. 

 

Aladdin will be performed from December 25th until December 28th at the Blue Hall Theatre in Princess Nourah Bint Abdul Rahman University located in the Riyadh Front zone. Tickets are on sale via TicketMX.com.
