Qatar Supreme Council of (QMED)

The inaugural edition of the Qatar International Medical Devices & Healthcare Exhibition and Conferences (QMED) will be held under the patronage of the Qatar Supreme Council of Health, from 2 to 4 December 2015 at the brand new Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC) located in the West Bay area of Doha, with an expected participation of over 100 local and international companies.

QMED is being organized jointly by Sogha Exhibitions and Conferences (National) and ExCo Media (International) based in London.

Mr. Hamad Jassim Al-Hamar, Director of Public Relations Department at the Qatar Supreme Council of Health, said: “The support of the Supreme Council of Health to QMED reflects the Council’s strong commitment to the health sector which is regarded as the pivot of social development.”

Al-Hamar added: “The move forms part of the Council’s keenness to open channels of communication between different players in the health sector, as part of its goal to upgrade the health sector as well as create a networking platform.”

Al-Hamar lauded the creation of the QBlue Zone, dedicated to Diabetes, which is one of the most critical health issues in Qatar, the Gulf region and the world. This will attract participation of professionals and international experts in the field of Diabetes, highlighting the importance of addressing such important health issues, and keeping track of global advances in this field.

Mr. Khalifa Al Mohannadi, General Manager of Sogha Exhibitions and Conferences, hailed the strategic support extended by the Supreme Council of Health to serve health and social issues in the country, and added that it is a critical factor in the long-term success of this international event.

Al Mohannadi said that QMED display area is around 5,000 square meters, with participation of more than 100 local and international companies and institutions, including prominent leaders in the development and provision of medical equipment, hospital supplies and medical laboratories.

He stressed that the developments over the past years in various sectors in Qatar, especially in the health sector, was the catalyst for holding this important event, since Qatar is one of the most advanced providers of health services in the Gulf region.

Al Mohannadi added that Qatar emerged as a hub for major international exhibitions and events in the region, and urged private companies and medical institutions to participate in and benefit from this event.

QMED has generated wide interest in a cross-section of global and local industry medical institutions and health agencies. The exhibition will include 10 key sections, such as the medical supplies industry, educational medicine sector and medical tourism. This is in addition to dedicated exhibition sections for Diabetes and Dental field, critical health issues in Qatar and the Gulf region. These are supported by the Qatar Diabetes Association and the MENA Diabetes Federation as well as the Qatar Dental Society.

QMED is a great opportunity to meet key players from the health sectors of the region, as well as specialists from all over the world, thus creating a healthy competitive atmosphere between the companies presenting major advances in the development of medical devices and healthcare services, as well as contributing to raising general health awareness in the community.
