Prominent international academics to participate in special cross-cultural conference in Sharjah

Renowned academics and experts from all around the world will gather in Sharjah to participate in a special, cross-cultural conference to be held October 31—November 3. The event, entitled Storytelling, Travel Writing and Seafaring from Cross-Cultural Perspectives, will see a wide variety of panel sessions take place at the campus of American University of Sharjah (AUS) as well as at venues belonging to the Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA). The international conference is being held by the Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA) in collaboration with AUS and SMA. 

 

This event will look at exploring the tradition of storytelling, travel accounts and seafaring stories in different cultures and communities in the Arabian Gulf and other Arab regions as well as in the Persian, Indian and European cultures.

 

The conference will focus on different categories and topics and feature panel sessions such as Travel and Imaginary Journey; Seafaring and Travel; Sufis, Travel and Mirage; Western Perception of the Eastern World and Vice Versa: Narratives between Reality and Fiction; and Travel and Cultural Encounter; among many others.

 

Distinguished academics from countries across the globe, including the United Kingdom, Egypt, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Tunisia and many more, will present papers and share their latest research with colleagues at the conference.

 

American University of Sharjah will host conference panel sessions on October 31 and November 2 while SMA will host the delegates on November 1 and 4.
