More than 3,000 girls are studying in five health colleges at Princess Nora University (PNU), according to its rector.

The announcement was made at the international conference inaugurated by Riyadh Gov. Prince Faisal bin Bandar at the university in Riyadh on Tuesday.
The first international conference on aspirations of patients, held in coordination with the Mayo Clinic, attracted a large number of local and foreign speakers.
PNU Rector Dr. Huda Al-Ameel said the institution has an ambitious plan to achieve excellence in education and rehabilitation programs for women in general, and in the health field in particular.

“It has introduced five health colleges such as medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacology and the science of health and rehabilitation, which include 17 majors among 3,174 students.”
“They are supported with simulation and research centers, and teaching hospitals designed and equipped to the highest standards,” she added.

In his speech, Prince Bandar pointed out that the PNU is an important pillar for education among women in the Kingdom. Wishing every success in all fields, Prince Bandar said PNU will stand as a monument to the cause of women and also contribute to the fulfilment of the vision of the country’s leadership.
Executive General Manager of the Hospital of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz University Dr. Ahmed Obuabah said the three-day conference will include more than 25 speakers from the public and private sectors in the Kingdom. Their focus is on development strategies for the participation of patients, and leaders and service providers to improve patient experiences and display the most important challenges, innovations and mechanisms to overcome them.

He pointed out that the principle of achieving the aspirations of patients has its origin in the ancient Islamic culture and stems from the teachings of religion, which advocates kindness, compassion and a sense of the need of others, and to ease their suffering and relieve the agony of patients.

In 1427 AH, a royal order was issued for the establishment of the first university for women in Riyadh, under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education. This included the six colleges located in Riyadh, in addition to a number of new colleges established for women’s education and development in the Kingdom.
In Riyadh alone there are six colleges: the College of Education for Liberal Arts Disciplines; the College of Education for Scientific Disciplines; the College of Education for the Development of Teachers; the College of Social Services; the College of Home Economics and the College of Fine Arts.
