NWC said it has completed several water projects in Taif for the municipality that serves a number of suburbs as part of strategic plans for developing infrastructure and raising operational efficiency in the water and environment sectors according to the highest quality standards and operational performance in the city. NWC said it always aims to provide the best services to its clients and execute service projects that satisfy their needs.

Eng. Said Al-Amri, Senior Director of Asset Services and Projects in Makkah and Taif, said NWC has executed a number of water projects in the city at a total cost of more than SAR 162 million. The projects included installing a water network serving 14 suburbs of Taif. These areas consist of the Um Al-Seba’, Al-Anud, Al-Muntazah, Om Al-Qura, Al-Sena’iyah, Al-Ma’ared, Al-Washha, Mokhatat Wahbi, Wadi Al-Naml, Al-Nasim, Mokhatat Al-Kahtani, Al-Sharafiyah and Al-Hamdah districts.

Eng. Al-Amri said the total length of executed main pipelines and networks is now more than 121 km in total, while the number of executed house connections has exceeded 2,750. He declared this project would serve a large number of Taif houses that have been waiting for these services for more than 40 years. He added that the networks and house connections project is first on the NWC’s priority list for Taif. NWC has applied its unified specifications and used highly advanced technologies, such as electric welding of house connections, to avoid losing incoming water to the network, he said.

Eng. Mohammed Al-Rabie, Capital Projects Manager for Taif, said a number of suburbs are already connected to actual water feed sources and the completed parts of these suburbs have entered into service. The completed 800 mm main pipeline in Wadi Wajj Street has entered into service to support existing networks in the suburbs suffering from a lack of water due to weak pressure and would permanently end the suffering of customers who live in elevated areas. Six suburbs are to be connected to the Al-Shohada tank (capacity 50,000 m3), consisting of Um Al-Seba’, Al-Anud, Al-Muntazah, Al-Ma’ared, Al-Sena’iyah and Om Al-Qura.

Eng. Al-Rabie talked about completing necessary arrangements with officials of the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) for supplying the suburbs with water. A plan has been set to define the roles and responsibilities of each party. 

NWC has invited all its customers to visit the NWC Customer Service Center in the Al-Muthananh suburb, Wadi Wajj, to register their subscriptions and submit all necessary information for connecting water to their houses. Customers will be notified by a sticker that will be attached to their water meters indicating when the service was connected.
