NWC launches a SAR700-million wastewater-pipeline south Riyadh

The National Water Company launched one of its most important strategic projects for developing environmental services and achieving environmental balance in Riyadh. The project includes the installation of a wastewater pipeline from Manfoha treatment plant to the new treatment plant in the south of Riyadh.

 

All three phases of the project have been completed costing SAR700 million. The pipeline was installed using the tunnel boring technology for 11.8km along with normal excavation of 25.2km.

 

Eng Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Mowkley, the CEO of NWC, said that this strategic project is aimed to completely treat wastewater in Riyadh according to approved standards. The project included the execution of a 37km pipeline with a capacity of 800,000m3of raw sewage. The project is a quantum leap and conforms to the highest environmental wastewater treatment standards.

 

With the launching of this pipeline, the project will serve more than one million residents in southern and western Riyadh districts, hitting a 4 million mark by the completion of all wastewater projects which will connect Riyadh to the main wastewater pipeline.
