MSS Organizes Workshop on Strategies to Safeguard Jobs

Model Service Society (MSS), a licensed social organization by the Community Development Authority (CDA) under the Government of Dubai, conducted a workshop on the topic: “Safeguarding Your Career” at Al Bustan Residence - Qusais, Dubai. 

The three-hour program was framed based on the researches on essential strategies at work place and attended by professionals from different industries. Dr. Sangeeth Ibrahim, Vice President, Learning and Development at Sharjah Islamic Bank has led the session under the topic: “Being Indispensable”.  

“Doing impactful work that aligns with organizational priorities, being visible to stakeholders and effective networking to connect with mentors and subject matter experts are the main three strategies to be streamlined into daily practical habits,” said Dr. Sangeeth Ibrahim.   

The workshop also introduced a self-assessment tool, which detailed 25 successful work habits, that is highly essential at the workplace. Another key event was the introduction of the DISC assessment, a behavior assessment tool based on the DISC theory developed by eminent psychologist William Moulton Marston. A detailed analysis of the strength and improvisations required for each of the component followed. The whole workshop was designed based on a published study on the work habits of top performers across organizations. 

Another highlight of the program was the panel discussion consisting of experts from the Banking, Hospitality and Airline Sectors. The discussion centered on the theme “In a team of ten employees, if the management was asked to retain only one employee, who will be retained?”

“Ability to learn more and learn new are the traits I value most in the best employee”, said Jassem Al Blooshi, Executive Vice President of Sharjah Islamic Bank.

Ian Philips, CEO, Sharjah Nationals Hotels said, “Ability to multi-task and willingness to take additional responsibility ranks highest, much more than technical skills” 

“Passion and dedication are what I would look for,” opined Amit Vyas, Manager Onboarding Dubai Airport.

The insightful workshop was helpful to understand challenges in the present job market and provided the strategies that employees can embrace to stay at the leading edge.
