Millennium Resort Mussanah launches Millennium Triathlon V.4 and Kids Aquathlon

Millennium Resort Mussanah, an award-winning resort destination for relaxation and recreation in the Sultanate of Oman, today announced that registration for this year’s Millennium Triathlon to be held on September 21, 2018, is now open.

Held in association with Triathlol Middle East LLC, the annual endurance race for triathletes will also see the participation of younger athletes who will compete in the first Millennium Kids Aquathlon.

The two events were announced at a press conference last August 15 held in Muscat where Millennium Resort Mussanah Oman General Manager Dermot Birchall and Director of Sales & Marketing Mustafa Jundi along with Triathlon Middle East LLC General Manager Ali Al Tamimi shared with the media the details of the endurance race.

“We are pleased to announce that registration for this year’s Millennium Triathlon is now open. We expect to receive more than 200 triathletes who will be competing in this year’s event. The huge success of last year’s triathlon and the great number of spectators have prompted us to launch the Kid’s Aquathlon allowing younger athletes to test their skills in the swimming and running competitions. Our goal is to be a destination for international sporting events and we count on the success of the annual triathlon to fulfill that. This will be another exciting sporting event for the residents and visitors of Oman,” said Birchall.

“The annual triathlon is a much-awaited sporting event for local and international athletes including residents of Oman who are excited to witness a comprehensive sporting event. We are happy to support Millennium Resort Mussanah Oman and we are confident that their facilities will cater to the needs of the participants and spectators of the competition,” added Al Tamimi.

The race is suitable for all levels from beginners to professionals. The Millennium Triathlon Sprint Race will cover a distance of 750 meter swim, 20km bike, and 5km run while the Kids Aquathlon will cover a distance of 50m swim (in the resort's family pool) and 300m run.

Meanwhile, Millennium Resort Mussanah Oman has created an exclusive package for athletes, residents, and guests, with rates starting at OMR35 per night for a stay in a Deluxe Room, OMR45 for a stay in a Superior Sea View Room and OMR 45 for a stay in a Studio Apartment for single and double occupancy. The rate includes buffet breakfast for two persons including complimentary access to the resort’s Aqua Fun waterpark and Zip-line.

An additional OMR20 will be charged per person for extra bed and breakfast while guests can upgrade to a Sea View room for an extra OMR 10.

Millennium Resort Mussanah has earned a reputation as a premier destination for large sports events from its founding on the site of the 2nd Asian Beach Games in 2010 to its emergence as a major venue. Over the last years, the resort hosted the FIFA Asian Beach Soccer World Cup Qualifiers 2011, the TEDx Muscat IT conference 2011, the Brand Oman Youth Summit Conference 2011 & 2012, the 2014 edition of EFG Sailing Arabia, Tours of Oman 2015, Mussanah Race Week, Oman Bike Week, 1st & 2nd International Dragon Boat for Oman and the Millennium Triathlon events.
