’Live’ event brings pupils closer to homeland

The “Live Saudi Arabia” program, recently launched for students from various educational levels, achieved its goal, with the participants “feeling closer to homeland.”
About 62 students participated in the experimental trips arranged by the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) to allow them to become acquainted with tourist and cultural landmarks in the Kingdom, as well as introduce them to local residents at each destination.

Abdul Rahman Al-Zanan, a university student in Riyadh who toured the Eastern Province, on Thursday said that they got acquainted with the most important tourist locations and sites of urban heritage.

Signifying the importance of the program in the enhancement of students’ sense of belonging to their homeland, he said that their historic, tourist and cultural knowledge about their homeland has completely changed now.

“For me, the trip was very useful and successful … I was acquainted with our historic and touristic potentials in general, and of the Eastern Province in particular,” he said.
Tariq Al-Salama, a secondary school student who toured Hail province under the program, said that he greatly benefited from the learning experience.

“For the first time, I sincerely experienced the cultural dimensions of the Kingdom and I am looking forward to taking part in such educational trips in the future,” he said.
Abdul Aziz Al-Negaidan, another beneficiary, said that the trip enriched his knowledge and educated him on the Kingdom’s cultural and historic heritage.

The SCTA arranged three trips under the historical learning program to the Eastern Province, Asir province and Hail province in which students of different education levels participated.
