King Salman Youth Center launches writing workshop

The King Salman Youth Center (KSYC) launched a workshop on Friday in the Saudi capital to help aspiring young authors understand the principles of writing.
“The workshop is considered a guide for those, especially the youth, interested in writing. For the first time they learned the principles and canons involved in this field,” said Mubarak Al-Diailij, KSYC’s director of media and publication.
He said that the workshop discussed the various mechanics involved in writing, the principles and literary styles employed by well-known writers in the Kingdom as well as abroad.
He said that participants gained deep insight during the workshop and expressed interest in attending similar workshops in the future to learn more about writing.
Al-Diailij said that KSYC will help the writers from the beginning, rewriting and editing their works until they are ready for publication.
“The King Salman Youth Center will help these writers all the way so that they can fulfill their dreams of becoming good and successful writers in the future,” he said.
He noted that the interests of the present young generation of writers cover a wide range of ideas that include entrepreneurship, community leadership, self-development, digital media, fiction (such as short stories, novels and poetry), among others.
He said that their works will be submitted to an advisory committee which offers free services in editing, publishing, marketing, participation in book fairs, among others.
The participants included ten aspiring writers whose works have been accepted by KSYC for editing until they are ready for publication and marketing.
These authors included Alshi Yafi who wrote “Successful Tables,” Jeanne Al-Abdullah (“Kiss on the Forehead of Death”), Ahmed Al-Ayyaf (“When You Become a Minister … How Do You Tweet?”), among others.
