InterContinental Riyadh Hosts 20 Children of Martyred Soldiers and Deceased Govt. Employees

InterContinental Riyadh, a leading 5-star hotel in Saudi Arabia together with the Saudi Commission for Tourism & Hospitality and the Ministry of Education hosts 20 children of martyred soldiers and deceased govt. employees (God rest their souls) for a one-of-a-kind seminar on employment in the Hospitality Industry.

 

Tariq Y. Dowidar, Area General Manager of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) inaugurated the seminar sharing his journey in the hotel industry from his early days as a Trainee to becoming a successful leader in a challenging yet rewarding industry. Also among the speakers were Fahad Al Onaizi, Rooms Division Manager, Yahya Al Bawardi Executive Housekeeper and Abdullah Al Othman IHG Future Leader. All of whom have risen through the ranks from entry-level positions in the hotel industry to leaders at InterContinental Riyadh.  Ahmed A. Abaalkhail, Director General of the King Abdulaziz & His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity, also gave a formal presentation outlining the government’s focus on development of the Saudi workforce in the hospitality industry and the anticipation of new and diverse career opportunities for young Saudi job seekers. Also present was Bader Al Obaid, Manager of Nationalization in the Tourism Industry with the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage.

 

The students were then treated to a lunch at the all-day-dining restaurant Al Bustan after which IHG Future Leader Ali Al Qahtani escorted them on a hotel tour where they were allowed inside access to the facilities and the opportunity to enquire about hotel operations.

 

The youngsters were enthusiastic and eager to know more and left the event with a fresh insight into life in the hotel business and the myriad of opportunities available for them to choose from.

 

The organizer of the event, Human Resources Manager Ibrahim Al Malki and Assistant Human Resources Manager Ali Al Shamrani also invited the students for a special summer training program as part of the IHG Academy initiative.
