With cyber security topping the agenda for national security amid growing evidence of cybercrime, the Imam Mohammad bin Saud Islamic University in Riyadh is organizing the 1st International Conference on Anti-Cyber Crime (ICACC-2015) in order to establish a forum in the Kingdom and conduct dialogue and discussion on vital security issues.
This international conference on fighting cybercrime assumes even greater significance after the Ministry of Interior made startling announcements on Saturday. Security forces broke up a Daesh network, saying that 431 suspects had been detained. These included individuals propagating deviant ideologies through the Internet and thus encouraging cybercrime in the Kingdom from sources at home and abroad. 
To be organized under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, the forum will help Saudi policymakers and authorities improve and revolutionize their efforts to tackle this problem by providing them opportunities to review existing use of technology in the country.
The three-day conference, from Nov. 10-12, will present specialized research papers on cyber security and provide proposals and ideas that will contribute to the improvement of cyber information security.
The keynote speakers at the conference include Eugene H. Spafford, professor at the department of computer sciences, Purdue University, United States, and Dale Waterman, corporate attorney, Microsoft digital crimes unit.
While Spafford is one of the most recognized leaders in the field of computing and has been honored with nearly every possible award in cyber security, including induction into the Cyber Security Hall of Fame, Waterman leads the Microsoft digital crimes unit for the Middle East and Africa.
Microsoft digital crimes unit is a worldwide team of lawyers, investigators, technical analysts and other specialists working to fight digital crime through partnerships and legal and technical breakthroughs geared to helping eliminate cyber threats to Microsoft’s businesses, customers and the entire digital system.
Waterman works with partners in order to help develop and execute technical and legal strategies to combat digital crime, cyber security threats and intellectual property crimes.
