GEMS Education university scholarship programme signs on further six world-class post-secondary institutions

GEMS Education has signed agreements with a further six world-class post-secondary education institutions as part of its growing UniConnect programme, which provides scholarships and financial aid to GEMS students seeking admission at universities within the region and across the globe. A total of 24 institutions are now part of the programme, offering GEMS Education students exclusive access to scholarships valued at more than AED350 million.

The latest universities to join the programme include: American University in Dubai, an internationally renowned institution providing undergraduate and graduate degrees and certificates in Middle Eastern studies and professional teaching; American College of Dubai, a pioneer in the field of higher education in Dubai; Amity University, Dubai, offering over 300 different programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level across its UAE campus; Curtin University, Dubai, which offers a foundation, undergraduate and graduate programme; as well as Heriot-Watt University, Dubai, offering a range of programmes at degree entry, undergraduate and postgraduate level.

GEMS Education has also signed an agreement with the British Council to resource schools, staff, students and parents across all aspects of UK education and testing needs for post-secondary education and career transition. The partnership will provide further assistance to students of GEMS schools worldwide to develop skills and academic support that enhance their university applications.

Christophe Savard, Vice President – Career and Future Employment Architect at GEMS Education, commented: “As GEMS Education continues to sign agreements with leading accredited institutions across the UAE as part of its UniConnect programme, our primary goal remains to increase collaboration between our organisations and prepare young adults in their transition from secondary to tertiary education and beyond. Working with a growing number of institutions and offering exclusive scholarships nearing half a billion dirhams over the next five years, UniConnect aims to match the passions and strengths of GEMS students with the right career pathways, providing endless opportunities for all.

“We look forward to working closely with our valued partners and tapping the expertise that exists across our network to ensure we are increasingly agile with our counselling models and our students are best placed to achieve success. In the coming months, we plan to host centralised career fairs involving our network of counsellors aimed at providing strategic and student-centric events that help to prepare our graduates for their transition to higher education.”

The first UniConnect event will be held at GEMS Wellington Academy, Al Khail on 2 June 2018 from 9am to 2pm, offering both GEMS and non-GEMS students and their parents the chance to meet with representatives from all institutions on the programme, as well as GEMS college counsellors and careers advisors. Special workshops will be held throughout the day covering a variety of university-related topics and addressing common questions such as ‘What high school curriculum is right for university success?’, ‘When should I start the university planning process?’ and ‘What should I study at college?’ Those interested in attending the event can register athttp://bit.ly/gemsuniconnect1.
