Faraj Fund Partners with Dubai Cares to Support Children of Prison Inmates with School Supplies

Faraj Fund teamed up with Dubai Cares, a philanthropic organization working to improve children’s access to quality primary education, to distribute 350 school kits for children of inmates from penal institutions and correctional facilities across the UAE.

Mr Saqr Al Nuimi, the fund’s General Manager commented, “Along with our parter Dubai Cares, we at Faraj Fund are delighted to welcome the new academic year by bringing joy to the hearts of UAE’s inmates while also easing the burden on their families”.

“2019, designated as the Year of Tolerance has been marked by milestone initiatives and outstanding humanitarian achievements, thanks to the generous support and cooperation of private organizations and benevolent businessmen of the UAE. With the coming together of our community, we have succeeded in bringing smiles to the lips of a few inmates while also spreading happiness within their homes,” he added.

Dr. Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer at Dubai Cares, said, ““As we continue to deliver vital programs that ensure access to quality education among children and youth in developing countries, it is important to look closer to home and support children who are not fortunate enough to go to school, and whose families and caregivers are unable or are barely able to afford school supplies. We are happy and proud to see 350 children benefit from our collaboration with Faraj Fund. Together, we are ensuring that these children go back to school adequately equipped with school essentials that will enrich their learning experience.”

The assembled kits include a school back pack with stationary such as notebooks and sketchbooks, a plastic ruler and a pencil case with color pencils, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, white board pens, ball pens and a glue stick.

This initiative not only enhances the spirit and boosts the confidence of children by giving them the necessary tools they need to learn and prosper, but also alleviates the heavy financial burden on their families.

According to it’s strategy for the Year of Tolerance initiative, Faraj Fund has launched several philanthropic programs that aim to reduce the suffering of UAE’s prison inmates and their families, while also doubling down on the organization’s efforts in releasing more victims from prison and ensuring their safe return and rehabilitation in their home countries.

Faraj Fund is currently working on forging new sponsorship agreements and corporate partnerships to fuel its growth, and to continue its humanitarian journey across the UAE’s philanthropic path.
