Equitativa, the first and largest REIT manager in the GCC and manager of Emirates REIT (CEIC) PLC (“Emirates REIT”), received the highest accolade in its sector when it was voted the “Best REIT Manager 2019” by the Islamic Business & Finance Awards for its management of Emirates REIT portfolio.
Equitativa is the founder and manager of Emirates REIT, the world’s largest Shari’a compliant Real Estate Investment Trust (“REIT”), the first REIT to be launched in the Gulf Cooperation Countries (“GCC”), and the first REIT to be listed on Nasdaq Dubai.
The award was presented to Racha Alkhawaja, Group Chief Distribution and Development Officer at Equitativa, by Saleh Al Akrabi, Chief Executive Officer, Property Management at the Dubai International Financial Centre (“DIFC”).
The Islamic Business & Finance Awards ceremony was attended by prominent industry leaders and Islamic banking and finance experts from across the Arab World, including the GCC and the Levant.
Commenting on winning the award, Sylvain Vieujot, Chief Executive Officer of Equitativa, said: “We are very proud to be recognised with the award for “Best REIT Manager 2019”. Our team has been working very hard over the past year to navigate challenging market conditions and maintain the portfolio’s efficiency of Emirates REIT. We are relentlessly working at reducing the impact of the sector’s headwinds by investing in our assets and improving their value over the long-term, which has strengthened our position as a sector leader.”
The Islamic Business and Finance Awards programme is supported by the DIFC and organised by CPI Financial. Every year, the awards recognise the pioneers of the Islamic banking and the broader financial sector and celebrate the many achievements of industry leaders that are vital to the industry’s continued growth.
