Electromin announces strategic partnership with Maribor Automobile Factory (TAM) to give e-mobility solutions a further boost in the Kingdom

  • The partnership provides an impetus for the business and public community to make sustainable and eco-friendly mobility for the mainstream in the KSA and the wider region
  • With Electromin’s first vehicles projected to be available in the market by Q1 of 2023, the collaboration supports KSA’s transformation towards its net-zero emission objective by 2060

Electromin, an e-Mobility turn-key solutions company, wholly owned by Petromin Corporation (“Petromin”), a leading mobility solutions provider in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has announced a strategic partnership with Maribor Automobile Factory (TAM), one of Europe’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers.

The announcement was made on November 13, 2022, in Jeddah in the presence of Kalyana Sivagnanam, GCEO, Petromin Corporation, Mark Notkin, CIO, Petromin Corporation, and Yusuf Ma, CEO, TAM.

The partnership brings into focus the differentiating strengths of both companies. TAM, based in Maribor, Slovenia, has a longstanding history of manufacturing different types of vehicles ranging from military trucks, light trucks, heavy trucks, fire trucks, buses, and even vehicle components like engines - today, it focuses on manufacturing buses.

Electromin focuses on e-mobility solutions driven by technology. It’s offerings and solutions are diverse and turnkey, ranging from in depth consultation to ongoing network operation and maintenance. Electromin has a multi-faceted persona working with private individuals, businesses and governments across the Middle East and has initiated the roll-out of a public charging network that offers a seamless charging experience for EV drivers.

Commending the partnership Kalyana Sivagnanam, GCEO, Petromin Corporation said, “Our collaboration with TAM, which constructs its technology on renewal energy sources, is another milestone crossed by Electromin on its path towards success. As a responsible corporate citizen, Electromin supports the Saudi Green Initiative and in this aspect, we are firmly aligned with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.”

Mark Notkin, CIO of Petromin Corporation said, “TAM is a traditional European automotive manufacturer and Electromin is a complete EV ecosystem – and this forms the perfect alliance between these two entities. The partnership will provide an added impulse to make sustainable and eco-friendly mobility mainstream in the Kingdom and the wider region.”

Viewing the partnership as a successful confluence between two companies that support and deliver, Yusuf Ma, CEO, TAM said, “The alliance between TAM and Electromin is the result of new opportunities emanating in the Kingdom’s e-mobility sector. Both companies will, in showcasing our discerning strengths, bring cutting-edge services and solutions to create a positive impact in this space. Saudi Arabia’s EV sector offers immense potential and the prospect of rapid growth. There is also a close alignment with national priorities, and we see this as a potentially promising environment to showcase our services and solutions.”

With Electromin’s first vehicles projected to be available in the market by Q1 of 2023, the collaboration with TAM amplifies and supports Saudi Arabia’s transformation towards its net-zero emissions objective by 2060. It also completes Electromin’s profile as a complete enabler of e-mobility - consultant, supplier of EVs, charging devices, as well as providing charging networks in the region.
