Dubai's Ramadan food trade totals AED 8.3bn in 1Q 2019

Latest statistics from Dubai Customs revealed the value of Dubai external trade in Ramadan foodstuff in 1Q 2019, which totalled DH 8.3 billion. These included meats, sugar, vegetables, flour, rice, nuts, bottled water, juice and dates. These weighed around 1.5 million tons. 

“Dubai Customs offers the best facilities and customs services to ensure easy access and entry of these foodstuffs without delay and ensure their quality and that they meet the big demand, especially in Ramadan, “says Ahmed Abdul Salam Kazim, Director of Strategy and Corporate Excellence at Dubai Customs. “We support all government efforts to serve people in the best possible way in fulfilment of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. We make sure consumers have access to quality foodstuff in compliance with our market’s standards and specifications and in cooperation with other government departments including Dubai Municipality.” 

Kazim added: 

“We follow smart and punctual procedures in our customs inspection operations to make sure foodstuffs are safe for consumption. Our customs centers have been equipped with the latest technologies developed in-house to provide the best services to investors, merchants and businesses and give them a cutting edge that supports their competitiveness.”
