Al-Nahda Philanthropic Society for Women and Uber Collaborate in a Unique Initiative for the First Time in Saudi Arabia

In light of the Municipal Elections in the KSA entering its third round, where both male and female voters aged 18 and above can select their preferred candidate to take on this great role, Al Nahda Philanthropic Society for women has partnered with the world famous personal driving app Uber. Earlier this year the society had launched a full scale awareness campaign in order to raise awareness about the importance of the elections generally and women’s participation in them specifically. In order to further encourage individuals to take part in this great opportunity Al Nahda and Uber have partnered up in order to provide male and female voters with free transportation services to and from the election centers.

Commenting on this initiative, Rasha Al Turki, the Chief Executive Officer of Al-Nahda Philanthropic Society, described this cooperation as a mutually beneficial and exciting initiative that will, indeed, yield great results. Al-Nahda Philanthropic Society is a 53-year-old charitable organization whose goal is developing society through empowering women, and has strived, through the years, to be more dynamic and youthful in addressing many social issues.

She further explains that: “There is no doubt that any successful social cause needs effective and substantial cooperation from all parties whether governmental entities, private organizations or charitable societies. This is why we partnered with Uber the private cars company in KSA, to eliminate transportation problems which may have been an obstacle for those wanting to vote”.

The General Manager of Uber Saudi Mr. Majed Abu Khater explained that their experience in 350 cities around the world has enabled them to successfully adapt to various complex markets such as Saudi Arabia. “Upon reviewing the municipal elections program and Al-Nahda’s role in the awareness, education, and training of citizens, we concluded that it is our duty as an organization to support Saudi men and women in successfully participating in development of their society. We are therefore providing free transportation services to those wanting to vote, all that is required from anyone wishing to take part, is to book a car through the Uber App by entering a code and a car will be sent to pick him/her up, free of charge.”

The General Manager adds: “Through our operations across Riyadh, Jeddah, and the Eastern Province, we strive to provide quality service, always keeping the safety of our passengers at heart while continuously ensuring the highest levels of comfort. Through our participation in this historical day, we continue to deliver our message which we have put in place since day one.”

Al-Nahda Philanthropic Society for Women is a pioneer in the field of charitable work, as it focuses on developing women in the Saudi Society, while enabling them economically, socially, financially as well as providing employment through an effective and comprehensive strategy and policy. This strategy keeps in mind, always, women’s needs in line with international methodologies so as to deliver the best possible results.
