Al Maktoum Foundation donates AED 300,000 to Abu Dhabi University Student Fund

Abu Dhabi University (ADU) has received a funding donation from the Al Maktoum Foundation worth AED 300,000. The donation was allocated towards the students’ fund in a bid to continue providing access to world-class education for students and boost their academic success.

In a special ceremony held at Abu Dhabi University’s Dubai Campus, H.E. Mirza Al Sayegh, Director General at the Office of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Chairman of the Al Maktoum College Board of Directors, presented the check to Abu Dhabi University in the presence of Dr. Waqar Ahmad, ADU Chancellor, Dr. Ibrahim Sidawi, ADU-Dubai Campus Director, Mr. Ian Mathews, ADU Vice Chancellor, and Dr. Philip Anthony Hamill, Associate Provost, Student Success.

H.E. Mirza Al Sayegh said that this donation is in line with the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, patron of the foundation, to support access to education and initiatives aimed at promoting the sector’s development. He emphasized that this donation further strengthens the long-standing relationship between the Al Maktoum foundation and Abu Dhabi University.

Dr. Waqar Ahmad extended his appreciation on behalf of Abu Dhabi University to Al Maktoum Foundation for the generous donation made. He pointed out that the funds will go towards supporting students with limited financial resources as well as outstanding students, both scientifically and academically, to ensure they have access to resources that enable them to specialize in their areas of interest and enjoy a comprehensive academic experience.

Dr. Ahmad added: “The Al Maktoum Foundation, under the patronship of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, is engaged in transformative initiatives, across different continents, aimed at developing capacity and leadership for the future. Our students continue to participate in and benefit from these initiatives. We are proud of our association with the Foundation and grateful for not only the financial support but also the guidance we receive from His Excellency Mirza Al Sayegh.”

Dr. Ibrahim Sidawi stated that ADU’s scholarships provide high achieving, financially challenged students with financial aid that ranges from 10% to 40% discount on tuition fees, and various scholarships based on merit. ADU currently has over 7,600 registered students across its four campuses - Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai and Al Dhafra Region - representing over 82 different nationalities enrolled in 44 undergraduate and postgraduate programs, all with global academic accreditation. A total of 15,000 ADU graduates are working in the UAE and abroad.
