ADDED successfully implements ‘Working Remotely’ initiative after services have been made 100 per cent available online

The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) has revealed the successful implementation of a ‘Working Remotely’ initiative for its employees. The move falls in line with ADDED’s continuing efforts to achieve sustainability in work and provide the best standards of smart services across various economic sectors in the emirate, successfully translating the process of digital transformation and technological development as witnessed by Abu Dhabi in all of its offered services.

H.E. Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman, ADDED, said: “The ‘Working Remotely’ initiative was implemented with the aim of accomplishing all job tasks of ADDED online by 100 per cent. The initiative is an effective move towards achieving the comprehensive digital transformation of services and jobs by building an innovative and advanced system that is based on performance indicators designed to assess the percentage of work done.”

He pointed out that the initiative has proven its effectiveness through employee performance indicators that exceeded expectations and contributed to speeding up the completion of the required transactions to meet the needs of all businessmen, investors, consumers and strategic partners from private sector companies and government and semi-government entities at the federal and local levels.

Al Shorafa further explained that ADDED has enabled its employees to perform their tasks remotely by also providing them with the essential tools like PCs and laptops that are equipped with the necessary programs needed to provide quick online smart services on a 24/7 basis. He added that the implementation of the remote work system is completely subject to the controls of the human resources policy set by the Abu Dhabi Human Resources Authority (HRA), to ensure employee productivity, which has been based on the daily rate of implementing and completing tasks.

He also confirmed ADDED’s full commitment to continue providing integrated digital services that enrich the experience of customers through automating transactions and completing procedures electronically in record time, which will allow investors to practice their economic activities and do business in Abu Dhabi in a smooth, efficient and faster manner.

Al Shorafa added, “ADDED is continuously seeking to raise the level of its services and enhance its leadership within the fields of technology and smart transformation, based on its clear strategy to be at pace with Abu Dhabi’s digital evolution, consolidating its position as a leading hub for innovation regionally and globally.”

He stated that the ‘Working Remotely’ initiative contributes towards the efforts to empower ADDED’s human resources by investing the achievements that have been made in terms of technical structure and utilizing technology in developing the internal work environment and growing human capital. The move falls in line with the directives of the Abu Dhabi Government to provide smart and sophisticated government services.

Al Shorafa expects the initiative to further enhance the productivity of ADDED's employees, as it will help in supporting the social structure of families in community by enhancing the flexibility of working hours to achieve balance between job tasks and family commitments.

He explained that the implementation of the ‘Working Remotely’ initiative also requires key compliance with set government practices to ensure confidentiality and security of the information and data without compromising the service delivery time and quality, as well as to ensure the productivity of employees participating in the initiative and their job discipline in line with the systems and regulations applied by the department.
