Added Expands Coverage Range Of 20 Per Cent Rental Rebate To Include Beauty And Hair Salons, Dental Clinics And Nurseries

The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) announced today the expansion of the range of businesses that can avail the 20 per cent rental rebate to include beauty and hair salons, dental clinics and nurseries.

The rebate’s expansion will include 2,499 lease contracts across Abu Dhabi, 1,320 of which are lease contracts for beauty and hair salons, 772 for dental clinics and 407 for nurseries. This is applicable to new contracts signed between 1 October 2019 and 31 March 2020, and renewed contracts between 1 April to 30 September 2020. It does not apply to any lease-to-own contracts.

H.E. Rashed Abdul Karim Al Balooshi, Undersecretary of ADDED, said: “The decision to expand the initiative comes as a result of a recent study conducted by ADDED, which showed that more categories of commercial activities had been impacted by the imposed COVID-19 precautionary measures.

“The expansion of the rebate plays a key role in enhancing the confidence of the private sector in Abu Dhabi’s business environment and enables them to benefit from the growing opportunities that Emirate’s dynamic environment presents.

“We remain committed to stimulate business activities, support all private sector companies operating in Abu Dhabi and contribute to reviving the Emirate’s economic system by implementing initiatives that enable business continuity and create an attractive environment conducive to stronger public-private partnerships.”

He further said that the Department has already received 2,307 rental rebate applications from restaurants and F&B outlets, tourists and entertainment facilities, excluding hotels. Following ADDED’s announcement, the same benefit will now be extended to beauty and hair salons, dental clinics, and nurseries.

ADDED introduced the rental rebate in March 2020, as part of the Abu Dhabi Economic Stimulus Package, to ease the impact of the pandemic on select businesses in Abu Dhabi. Part of Ghadan 21, Abu Dhabi’s accelerator programme, the rebate covered restaurants and F&B outlets, tourists and entertainment facilities, excluding hotels.
