3,611 training opportunities for Saudis in retail sector

The governorate of Jeddah has launched a training program to localize jobs in the city with 3,611 Saudis receiving training and getting jobs at the first stage.

Speaking Tuesday at the governorate’s office Price Mishal Bin Majed, governor of Jeddah, said: “We are pleased to launch the first batch of the training to localize jobs in Jeddah in cooperation with our partners Jeddah University, Ministry of Labor and Social Development, Human Resource Development Fund, the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the private sector.”

The program will provide training to 3,611 youths at 16 retail sectors, the governor said noting that 5,809 individuals have registered looking for jobs and 94 companies are looking for qualified young Saudis. He added that 5,000 jobs will be provided to young Saudis in the near future.

Prince Mishal said the governorate will exert all efforts to meet the expectations of nationals and the demands of Vision 2030. He also highlighted the importance of training for graduates to be able to perform their jobs well.

The program will help localize car showrooms, shops selling auto spare parts, gold, mobiles, electric appliances, medical equipment, sweets, construction material, clothes, children’s wear eyeglasses, watches, motorbikes and carpets as well as mobile maintenance and car rentals.

The training will be offered by Jeddah University which has prepared the needed packages that take into consideration the market needs. The training is divided into three levels: The basic level of 24 training days that include theory and practical parts, advanced level will have 12 days of training while the final level is the professional level which is also training for 12 days.
