Under the patronage of Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the High Commission for Industrial Security, the Assistant Minister of Interior for Operations Affairs, General Saeed bin Abdullah Al-Qahtani, inaugurated the Saudi International Oil Fire Safety Conference (OFSAC 2019( and exhibition at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Riyadh, which was organized by the General Secretariat of the High Commission for Industrial Security at the Ministry of Interior over two days, in the presence of Secretary-General of International Energy Forum (IEF) Dr. Sun Xiansheng, the HCIS Secretary-General, Brig. General Mohammed bin Ali Al-Habdan, and a number of specialists in industrial safety.

The opening ceremony started with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a presentation introducing the conference theme an topics. 

The Secretary General of the High Commission for Industrial Security, stated in his speech that the conference and the exhibition will demonstrate the role of public utilities in mobilizing and activating the oil, gas and petrochemical industries in the Kingdom and the Middle East region in terms of prevention, precautionary measures and safety of fire disasters, preparations and response plans in line with the Saudi vision "2030”. 

 

He also stressed the adherence of the High Commission for Industrial Security to achieving the objectives  of the Saudi Government in improving Hazard Prevention and Control measures and face the dangers of oil and gas fires through the development of policies, plans and technical, engineering and regulatory instructions necessary to protect oil and industrial facilities and provide safety and fire prevention.

The conference sessions are one of the most important programs of the Saudi OFSAC 2019. The sessions were divided into three themes, the first theme is titled: “Fire disasters in the oil, gas, petrochemical and chemical industries: facts, figures and solutions”. The second theme will revolve around “best practices and innovations in the field of oil and gas fire prevention " and lastly, the third theme covers “Promoting a fire safety culture in the oil, gas and petrochemical industry from the perspective of the international community". 

It is expected that 350 people will participate in six specialized training programs that are designed to meet the training requirements of oil and gas companies, petrochemical industries and power treatment plants. The training programs aim to bridge the training gap in the fire safety, and to introduce practical and viable solutions to increase efficiency.
