‘Layali Diriyah’ Continues Throughout Eid al Fitr

The Diriyah Gate Development Authority’s Ramadan event Layali Diriyah(Diriyah Nights) will continue for five days during Eid Al Fitr season featuring a range of cultural and entertainment activities within the Al Bujairi area of the historical landmark Diriyah. Focusing on cultural celebrations of Saudi history, activities will start from the first day of Eid Al Fitr, with the aim of sharing the joy with the community as Muslims around the world observe the end of the holy month.

Activities of Layali Diriyahwill include cultural performances of traditional Ardha Samri dances that originated in the Najdi region over two hundred years ago. Shows will start from 8:30pm onwards and be complemented by food and beverage outlets and activities for visitors of all ages.

Supported by the Diriyah Gate Development Authority, Diriyah continues to create experiences that bring our community together. Commenting on the cultural celebrations, DGDA CEO, Jerry Inzerillo said, “The remarkable turnout of Layali Diriyah, which lasted throughout the holy month of Ramadan, reflects the importance of Diriyah historically, culturally and socially, and reinforces Diriyah’s position to become one of the world’s greatest gathering places”.

He added, “We were overwhelmed by the success of Layali Diriyah and the positive reception from over 300,000 visitors who enjoyed the spectacular celebrations during the holy month of Ramadan. There is only one Diriyah, and we look forward to welcoming our community to enjoy more celebrations in this iconic landmark and share the beautiful, rich history of the Saudi people in the Jewel of the Kingdom for many years to come.”

Diriyah Gate Development Authority was established in July 2017 to preserve Diriyah’s culture, celebrate its community and make Diriyah known globally as a landmark that celebrates Saudi culture and history and highlights the architectural, diplomatic and artistic legacy of Diriyah. Considered one of the Kingdom’s most important historical sites and the capital of the first Saudi state, Diriyah is home to the UNESCO World Heritage site of At-Turaif, a mud-brick city that stands as the birthplace of the first Saudi state. At-Turaif is scheduled to open to the public in 2020.
