Introduction to Arabic Calligraphy for Art and Design

The workshop aims to introduce the participants to the field of Arabic calligraphy from many aspects, history, fine art, craftsmanship, as well as typography as a design discipline.
It intends to cover various topics related to the art and practice of Arabic calligraphy including:
1- Main Classical Calligraphy Styles
2- Tools and Materials
3- Demonstration of the Alphabet Structure and Writing Techniques
4- Critique of Selected Calligraphy and Logotype projects
5- The Golden Ratio and Aesthetics
6- Composition in Art and Design
The participants will then start working on specific assignments to design a word or a phrase of their choice and go through the design process under the supervision of the workshop leader. Reviews and critique of the participant’s works will take place once the project is finished
