This workshop is an introduction to the human-centered design (HCD) mode of thinking, through two interactive discussion with Banafsajeel Founder. Banafsajeel is an art and design platform that uses HCD to develop projects with cultural relevance. Human-Centred design is not just a way to develop products for the market, it helps to address social problems and to improve our lives. It improves products but also offers better services, practices, and experiences. It involves empathy with real people or users within their environment. It helps to (re)define the problem and get a fresh perspective. HCD has brought us the computer mouse, touch screens, improved patient care and more. This hands-on workshop will take you through a full design cycle to have an understanding of howHuman-Centred design works. By the end you will get a feel for the HCD approach, and get a taste of each of the design modes: empathise, define, ideate, prototype, test. Specifically, you will appreciate a way to engage with real people when you make design decisions, and understand the benefit of rapid prototyping, an iterative approach, and a focus on doing.
