Flag Island, a premier tourist destination in Sharjah and one ofthe UAE’s most iconic national landmarks, has announced that it is opening registration to enter the ‘Duathlon’ running and cycling race, in cooperation with the Sharjah Triathlon Team,

 

The event, which takes place on Friday, 25 Augustat 5:45am, is open to everyone aged 16 years and above aseither individuals or groups. The race is divided into 3 stages, the first of which includes running for 3 km, then cycling for 25 km and finally running again for another 3 km.

 

The Duathlonis an ideal chance for beginners to start learning and a great opportunity for fitness gurus to beat personal bests and sprint against other athletes either on their own or in relay teams of two.Nearby roads will be closed and a designated running track ensures a safe and fun race. There are also plenty of aid stations, and supporters and a real community atmosphere make this a special race for people of all abilities.

 

Applications are accepted on a ‘first come first serve’ basis, and registration closes on Thursday, 24 August. The registration fee for individuals is AED 80, and double registration isAED 100.

 

Individual participation includes an open category of men and women of all nationalities as well as a separate class for UAE men and women. A mixed double participation is made up of one man and one woman, consisting of one runner and one cyclist and there is an open event for all male and all female teams. The winners will be those that come first, second and third in each category.
