Dubai is hosting the Obesity Care & Cure Congress, in collaboration with San Donato Hospital Group – the number one private healthcare group in Italy. The event, taking place on the 3rd of February, gathers national and international experts who will share the latest research and breakthroughs in the treatment of obesity and related problems.
Dr. Francesco Magro, Head of International Development – Middle East for Gruppo San Donato, says this event aims to support the United Arab Emirates in combating the risks of obesity on health: “Obesity leads to many serious health complications, such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancers, and musculoskeletal disorders. It has become an epidemic problem worldwide and it’s on the rise in the UAE.  We believe it’s urgent to address and combat this health problem so we are bringing together some of the most knowledgeable people in this field”.
The congress includes a list of specialist speakers from Dubai and from the renowned Italian scientific research and medical institution such as:  Dr. Ahmad Hassoun, Research and Medical Education Director at Diabetes Centre Dubai (Dubai Health Authority); Dr. Alexis Malavazos Consultant, dietary specialty center and eating education at Policlinico San Donato; Dr. Andrea Formiga, Consultant bariatric surgeon at the Clinic Institute of Zicchi in Italy; Dr. Emanuele Bosi, Head of the diabetes Research Institute at the San Raffaele Hospital; Dr. Giuseppe Rovera, Scientific director of the center Eating disorders in San Pietro, Italy; Dr. Lorenzo Piemonte, Vice President of diabetes Center in San Rafael, Italy's Hospital Research Institute.
The congress will discuss a number of important topics, including the prevalence of global obesity and ways to effectively manage it, the importance of adopting a healthy diet pattern and exercise consistently, and care for patients with severe obesity. The event will offer presentations, case-based studies and workshops in which attendees will experience different specialty approaches through simulated models. “We seek through this congress to raise awareness and medical knowledge of the multiple options in the fight to obesity, by presenting the latest developments and the solutions at hand for the professionals” – concluded Dr. Francesco Magro.
