SABIC and the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (MAWHIBA) signed a memorandum of understanding at the SABIC headquarters in Riyadh on July 27 to jointly support creative male and female school students at various educational levels across Saudi Arabia in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

 

MAWHIBA was represented at the signing ceremony by Dr. Khaled bin Abdullah Al-Sabti, Secretary General, and SABIC by Yousef Al-Benyan, Vice Chairman and CEO.

 

The program reflects a quantum leap in the cooperation between the company and MAWHIBA to help raise the level of national talent, mainly in the fields of science and technology, consistent with the rapidly changing nature of knowledge and new challenges.

 

In comments at the signing ceremony, Dr. Al-Sabti stressed the importance of the cooperation and its contribution towards achieving the Saudi 2030 Vision. The MoU also supported the promotion of creative talent to help advance various national plans. He praised SABIC’s role as a national corporate leader, supporting scientific initiatives and creating future leaders. He also noted the achievements made by MAWHIBA through SABIC’s contributions over the past ten years.

 

Al-Benyan appreciated the tireless efforts exerted by MAWHIBA to discover and sponsor talented and innovative students. He highlighted SABIC's leading global position in the petrochemical industry, and its active role in community development through its social responsibility strategy that covers key areas, including science and technology education. SABIC strongly believed in the importance of investing in talented and creative people, and was keen on extending every support to help the program achieve its goal, he said.

 

The SABIC-MAWHIBA program demonstrates the company’s leadership in human resource development, and its efforts to nurture talent in the Kingdom. It further highlights its service to the community through its social responsibility strategy, which focuses on four key areas: science and technology education, environmental protection, water and sustainable agriculture, and health care.
