Middle East Cities turn to Metro as Traffic Congestion Grows

Under the patronage of H.E Dr. Abdullah Bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Public Works Chairman of the Federal Transport Authority, the 11th Annual MENA Rail & Metro Summit will be held from 5-7 October 2015 at The Address Marina, Dubai

His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Public Works Chairman of the Federal Transport Authority – Land and Maritime, assured that 2015 would be a historic year for the Federal Rail Network in the United Arab Emirates.

The participation of the FTA in the 11th Annual MENA Rail & Metro Summit would promotes the UAE as a leading country in rail development industry, and encourages transport and traffic ministries in GCC states to maintain efforts to establish a rail network for GCC countries by supporting rail operators in the region to provide efficient and safe high-end rail networks across GCC states. The Federal Transport Authority hopes that MENA Rail & Metro Summit would become a regional forum to exhibit and learn about global products in the rail industry. Characterized   as Effective and safety and improve the efficiency of Logisticsnetworks   Across the GCC countries and serve as a   Regional forum for Knowledge and products on the globalrail industry

By attending this year’s edition of MENA Rail & Metro Summit, the Federal Transport Authority asserts its commitment to the rail industry in the UAE, being part of a vital discussion on key strategic issues that influences the growing rail industry in the United Arab Emirates and the region.

The conference persuades Middle East states to introduce new urban mass public transport in general and high-tech metro networks in particular as the best way to cope with the accelerating population growth in the cities of the region.

More than half of the people of the Middle East live in and cities and that number is expected to double in less than 20 years, urban development experts say. Metros, trams systems and bus networks are now seen as essential if Middle East cities are to deliver a desirable and sustainable living environment for its residents.

“Since Dubai opened its metro in 2009, the attitude towards large-scale investment in integrated urban transport systems has been transformed in the Arab world,” says MENA Rail & Metro Summit Chairman Edmund O’Sullivan. “Our Annual summit for and about the rail and metro industry of the region and the world will focus on the key lessons to be learned from the growing number of successful metro systems operating or being built in the Middle East. With pressure growing on public finance due to lower oil prices, this conference will also investigate innovative ways of attracting private investment into Middle East metro and rail projects.”

Other speakers include senior representatives from Roads and Transport Authority, Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects, Hong Kong Metro, ANESRIF, Enterprise Metro d'Alger,  and many more.
