Almost 500 Young volunteer pharmacists of all levels from experts to fresh graduates at the beginning of their career chose to give up their Thursday before the national holiday week-end to talk about the role of pharmacy in the community. The event entitled “Pharmacy – Creative Successful Futures” was organized by the “Pharmacist with an Impact” (PHACT) group and held at King Fahd Medical City in the impressive main auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine.
The conference was sponsored by the Badir Program for Technology Incubators who also contributed with a presentation by the Program Director Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Hargan and an interactive session from the Badir for Biotechnology team on Starting up New Business. Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Hargan gave an inspirational talk about innovation drawing on this own experience as entrepreneur.
Ms. Sultana Bin Saleh Bin Sultan the Corporate Service Manager of Badir for Biotechnology said “it’s wonderful to see young graduates so enthusiastic about new ideas to help develop creative and successful ideas for the future for the kingdom”
During the day Young pharmacists presented their own new ideas for products and services which they would like to develop. The belief in bringing new products and services to the market to benefit the Kingdom was reflected in the interactive session run by Badir for Biotechnology. In a voting session during the Badir presentation made by Ms. Sultana Bin Saleh and Ms. Dina Al Urayer over 50% of the delegates said that they had new ideas that they would like to bring to the market but almost 60% of them didn’t know how to start business. Mr. Barry Wheatley executive Consultant for Badir then went on to explain the services and facilities on offer from Badir and how the Badir Program gives technologists the support and training they need to start their own business.
